Central is excited to have specially re-purposed its Camera acting course for online provision whilst maintaining the fundamental qualities of the process. You will be working in a virtual group on Zoom with one of our experienced online tutors.

To replace working together in a scene on a set, you will be directed remotely by the tutor and provided with the technical know-how to record your individual shots, which you will submit to the tutor, who will then edit together with your scene partner’s to create the edited scene.

Course Overview

Working with a film industry professional, prepare and work on monologues, duologues and scenes from a range of television, commercial and film genres.

In a friendly and supportive environment, you will:

  • Explore preparation exercises from a variety of acting practitioners with focus on developing imagination and creating believable performances
  • Develop an understanding of the technical aspects of shooting a scene and how this affects performance
  • Learn about castings and auditions for film, television and commercials

Please note, you do not produce a show reel as part of this course but you will get to see the footage that is produced throughout the course as part of the learning process.

The course is for:

  • People who have taken Acting: An Introduction or have taken equivalent introductory acting classes elsewhere
  • Those that are new to screen acting
  • Those that are returning to screen acting who wish to brush up their skills
  • Those that are already working in the industry but who haven't trained before

Our previous students said....

"Since participating in this short course I feel I have a much better understanding of how to act convincingly for the camera. It was a very enjoyable experience and the prospect of finding work in film now seems much less daunting!" - Lydia - May 2020
"Excellent tutor. Learnt about framing and camera angles. I liked the combination with and referencing to Laban, Strasberg, Stanislavsky - for a stage actor this was great. Gave me something i could hold on to. Course was very inspirational." Vanessa - May 2020
