Course overview

Are you a theatre artist who wants to gain skills in facilitation and teaching? This is a practical introductory one-day course that will give you the skills to plan and deliver workshops in your area of expertise.

Writers, directors, actors, and technicians are often asked to run workshops and courses in order to share their skills. This can be an excellent way to explore and share your practice as an artist and add a string to your bow as a freelancer. This course is designed to support you in the structuring and delivery of this.

You will:

  • Explore how to plan, design and structure a session and series of sessions. You will look at tools to design a useful, fun and meaningful session.
  • Work practically, delivering exercises and receiving feedback on your delivery.
  • Gain improved confidence with teaching strategies and responsiveness including considering challenges and how to manage them in the room.
  • Consider who you might be working with, explore learning styles and approaches that are relevant to your practice.

Who this course is for?

This one day course would be suitable for:

  • Actors, directors and theatre makers who are interested in running workshops/teaching and want to improve their facilitation skills.
