Central is excited to have specially re-purposed its introductory acting course for online provision whilst maintaining the fundamental qualities of the process.

You will be working in a virtual group on Zoom with one of our experienced online tutors. Whether you're hoping to pursue a career as an actor, or you're just looking for a fun way to learn some new skills and to widen your social network, this first course in our programme is for you.

In a friendly and supportive environment, you will:

  • explore various acting techniques
  • look at characterisation using imagination and improvisation
  • rehearse a scene from a play
  • enhance skills in working supportively with others
  • discover the role of body and voice in acting
  • work with experienced tutors who will nurture your confidence and creativity

The course is for:

  • everyone regardless of prior experience or training
  • people who are new to acting
  • people who are looking for a creative way to improve their confidence and public speaking skills
  • actors who want to brush up their skills

  • All times listed are London time (either GMT, or GMT +1 depending on the time of year). If you're joining from overseas, please use a timezone convertor before booking to establish what the local time will be for you. 
  • Please dress in clothes that are comfortable to move in
  • All workshops take place online using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to you on the day of the workshop date with further instructions.
  • You will need to have access to a quiet room or space with no other people present, and room to move around to take part in this workshop.
  • For the best online experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer rather than a phone. We also suggest you test your audio, visual and internet connection through Zoom, before joining the course.
  • Central reserves the right to cancel this workshop within 7 days of it beginning if we don't meet the minimum number of sign-ups required. A full refund will be made to you in the instance, however, we're unable to refund any other costs you may have incurred.

Course Detail

Days and times: Various. Usually twice a week for 4 weeks. The course consists of 8 sessions in total.

Age: Minimum age is 18 on the first day of the course. No upper age limit.

International students: You are welcome to join this course from anywhere in the world provided you meet our minimum language requirements. 

Language requirements: Applicants must be confident speaking and reading English to a conversational level (IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent). Please note, you will be expected to read texts/scripts that may have advanced vocabulary in them on this course.

Maximum class size: 12

Attendance: Due to the structure of the courses, and the collaborative nature of acting, full attendance is requested.

Refunds: We are able to offer a full refund up until 7 days before the course begins. After this the course will become fully non-refundable.
