Scenography Open Studio Exhibition 2018

Sorry, this event has now passed

MA/MFA Scenography students are presenting their final projects in progress from 26 to 28 June in the Dench Studio. See the works evolve throughout the week, culminating with a Closing Event on 28 June at 5.30pm with performances.

About the Exhibition

Perceived through a scenographic lens, the body’s relation to space is not a given but, precisely the opposite, a field of speculative, playful and innovative articulations. Whether they delight, distract, disrupt or disturb, all these new potential situations are based on a single assumption: there is more to how we inhabit our material surroundings than we have considered before.

Teasing out these possibilities is a process. It may start from a text, an existing space, an actual experience or a personal desire. In all cases, it is a journey of incremental dialogues between ourselves and selected materials that evolve to discover new relations.

During three days, 13 emerging artists are sharing and developing their final projects under the live conditions of an open studio. This scenario enables new experiments and interactions, fleshing out 13 unique proposals and the future of scenography itself.
