Primary schools

Secondary schools

Student ambassadors can visit your secondary school to deliver activities about preparing for drama and theatre in Higher Education. These workshops are suitable for Year 10 - Year 13 students studying drama and/or art and design courses.

Ambassadors have to successfully complete Central’s training programme and undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Discover Central - 1 hour

This workshop is for students interested in and/or studying drama and/or art and design courses. It aims to provide an overview of Central’s undergraduate courses in acting, theatre practice and drama and applied theatre in education.

Student life talk - 30 minutes

A workshop that offers the opportunity to meet two of our current students and hear about their journey into Higher Education and their experience at Central. A Question and Answer session is included.

Central’s experienced lecturers and practitioners offer the following workshops and master classes to help prepare students for the specialist undergraduate pathways. Lecturers and practitioners all undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Interview/Portfolio Workshop - 2 hours

The workshop aims to give a practical insight into Central’s undergraduate courses for the production of theatre and live performance arts, how to prepare for an interview and what to include in your portfolio. Central's Creative, Design & Production courses

Drama and Applied Theatre in Education Master Class - 2 hours

This master class focuses on the application of drama within a range of social, community and educational contexts. This ever-expanding, exciting field is new to many and can lead to numerous studying and employment opportunities. Central's Drama & Applied Theatre courses

Acting Master Class - 2 hours

This master class gives students a taster of what studying acting at a drama school is like, highlighting the next steps from learning drama/acting in school, to what it is like and what is expected at a university level. Central's Acting, Voice & Movement courses

Audition Techniques - 2 hours

This master class gives a practical insight into the experience of auditioning for drama schools and/or university. It looks at what will be expected in an audition and how best to prepare, including monologue choices, suitability and the format of the audition. Students can come prepared with monologues to work on or our lecturers and practitioners can prepare an introductory session working with students on a particular piece. Central's Acting, Voice & Movement course
