On Thursday, 21 November competition winners of the 2013 Linbury Prize for Stage Design were announced in a ceremony at the National Theatre.
Ana Ines Jabares Pita, an Alumna of Central’s MA Scenography course who graduated in 2012, was named the overall title-holder of the prestigious prize. All winners were awarded £2,000 in prize money with Jabares Pita receiving an additional £1,000.
The winners have also received a commission to design a professional production for a major theatre, dance or ballet company. Ana Ines Jabares Pita will be working with the National Theatre of Scotland on a stage adaptation of Muriel Spark’s novella ‘The Driver’s Seat’.
The Linbury Prize for Stage Design is funded entirely by the Linbury Trust, a charitable trust founded in 1973 by Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover KG (John Sainsbury) and his wife Anya, Lady Sainsbury, CBE, the former ballerina Anya Linden. The name ‘Linbury’ is thus derived from the names Linden and Sainsbury.
The win marks the third subsequent year that a Central graduate has been in receipt of the prestigious award.
