Central@ events see us collaborate with external venues on a range of projects, presentations, seminars and masterclasses.
Events in 2016 included a Pablo Larraín film season presented with the ICA and Network Releasing (1-5 April 2016); a special presentation of Lorenzo Vigas’ 2015 Venice Film Festival Golden Lion winner Desde allá/From Afar with the ICA (30 June 2016); a lecture by film scholar Dr. Tamara Falicov (University of Kansas) presented in association with the School of Advanced Study’s Institute for Modern Languages Research (30 November 2016) and the ‘High Heels and Nervous Breakdowns: Almodóvar’s Women’ day at the BFI (24 September 2016).
Events in 2017 have included ‘Brexit the Stage: What’s Next for British Theatre?’, a one-day conference at the V&A Museum bringing together performance practitioners, academics and policy makers who work in and between British and European stages to consider the opportunities and responsibilities of theatre in a post-Brexit society, and ask how we can continue to foster international relationships. Speakers included: David Lan (Artistic Director Young Vic Theatre), Natalia Kaliada (Founder and Director, Belarus Free Theatre), Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson (Good Chance Theatre), Kully Thiarai (Artistic Director, National Theatre Wales), Dr. Uta Staiger (Executive Director UCL European Institute), Professor Peter Boenisch (University of Kent) and Mark Ball (Artistic Director, London International Festival of Theatre).
