Accommodation Support

The Student Advice Service offers year-round accommodation support by providing help and advice to students looking for, or currently staying in, Private Rented Accommodation or Halls of Residence.

Organising your accommodation may seem challenging, but the Student Advice Service can offer straightforward guidance and support as you decide where you would like to live during your studies. Please see our Accommodation Guide 2020/21 for step-by-step advice, visit our Accommodation: How it Works page or email the SAS if you have any questions at all.

Following the COVID-19 Outbreak, the SAS Team have been supporting current students with accommodation matters, monitoring government policy, noting reopening of Letting Agent Offices/recommencement of in-person viewings (at a social distance) and taking advice from colleagues at the University of London’s Housing Services. To see the latest advice about how to organise your accommodation search, please see our Accommodation Advice: COVID 19 Update document.

Most of our students live in privately rented properties, sharing flats and houses with other Central students. Find out more about Privately Rented Accommodation.

Central receives an annual allocation of rooms in the University of London’s Intercollegiate Halls and there are several Private Halls of Residence options close to Central.

For help, advice and the latest news on accommodation, please join our Facebook group or Facebook page  and current students can visit the Student Accommodation page on MyCentral. Students can use the Facebook group as a forum to make contact with future housemates, advertise rooms and seek advice from current students. If you cannot access these, please contact the Student Advice Service.

Prospective students can also make appointments with the Student Advice Service to discuss accommodation options. Either in-person or telephone meetings can be arranged via email or by calling +44 (0)20 7559 3900.

We also hold a vast amount of information that can help students, including the Accommodation Guide, the Accommodation Housing Checklist, information about Transport for London fares and more. Contact us if you wish to access this material.

Shared Accommodation

Two Sharers’ Days are organised each year to help students meet other potential housemates. After careful consideration and taking into the consideration the restrictions around large gatherings and travel, there will be two online Virtual Sharers’ Days events in 2020. These will take place on:
-    Friday 17th July 2020
-    Friday 21st August 2020
We intend to run these events twice on each day at 11am and 4pm (UK Time).

These events have been reformatted to take place online will include Facebook Live broadcasts, icebreaker activities on Zoom and create a digital space for students to introduce themselves and meet each other in order to start an accommodation search.

Sharers’ Days provide new students with the opportunity to meet and ‘buddy up’ to look for accommodation. Members of the Student Advice Service Team and Central’s Students’ Union team will be present providing advice and guidance on renting. If you would like to ‘attend’ one of the Virtual Sharers’ Days, please contact sas@cssd.ac.uk stating which date you are interested in. If you have reached out to us already, we will update you with plans for the day.
