BIOGRAPHY

Lucy is a Midlands-based movement director, choreographer and teacher who has a background in performance. Having completed her undergraduate degree in acting, she went on to be a professional dancer and actor performing in various productions including live theatre, pantomime, theatre in education, short films and music videos. She has participated in workshops with companies such as Theatrical Intimacy, Gecko and Temper. She has participated in Complicite's research and development project Everything That Rises Must Dance, exploring nuances of female relationships. Lucy found her way into movement through physical theatre. She loved the way that acting and movement could be combined to create a more embodied storytelling experience, and found herself moving more into movement directing, devising and facillitation.

She is also Artistic Director of Centrality theatre company which specialises in physical theatre, devised work. As a founding member of the company, they worked on Sonder, a piece based around the struggles of a homeless person finding their way back to 'society'. She is also currently collaborating with a company on a new piece. By undertaking the MA Movement: Directing and Teaching over two years, she was able to keep working within community settings, whilst broadening her practice and knowledge base. As a creator she is inspired by the everyday and encounters with people from all walks of life. She is especially interested in movement direction and intimacy within the world of acting, and how to support actors from training to the professional world through their embodied understanding.
