Voice for Performance: An Introduction (online)

Central is excited to have specially re-purpose its short voice course for online provision.

Course Overview

Voice is integral to all performance from performing as a character on stage, to presenting as yourself in a business context. Learning how to unlock your voice can help you increase in confidence and bring new depth and integrity to your performance.

This course will:

• introduce you to using your voice as a performer or public speaker
• explore fundamental voice techniques including breath support and control through practical work
• delve into key areas such as articulation, rhythm and resonance to enrich vocal performance
• build confidence and develop effective techniques to help conquer nerves
• link your developing skills to practice on texts, enabling you to begin to free your voice and find a true connection to the words you speak

At the end of the course you will be invited to perform a poem and a piece (acting monologue/public speech) to apply your learning in context.

• voice practitioners who want a solid base from which to specialise

Please note: Due to the nature of voice work, the course contains a certain amount of floor work (especially in the first few sessions). You will need to have room to lie down and we recommend having a yoga mat or towel to hand for your comfort.

General:

• This course is for students aged 18 and over
• This course is capped at a maximum of 12 people
• All workshops take place online using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to you the day of the workshop with log in instructions.
• You will need to have access to a quiet room or space with no other people present, and room to move around to take part in this course.
• For the best online experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer rather than a phone. We also suggest you test your audio, visual and internet connection through Zoom, before joining the course.
• Central reserves the right to cancel this workshop within 7 days of it beginning if we don't meet the minimum number of sign-ups required. A full refund will be made to you in the instance, however, we're unable to refund any other costs you may have incurred.
